We rescue dogs that may be abandoned due to their age or medical conditions. Some are hospice. Although they may be with us for a short time, each dog is loved and cared for as our own. We treasure our time with them. Our goal is to give them the compassion and care they need in their final days. When they leave us, they know they are loved and they have a family to wait for on the Rainbow Bridge. For dogs that arrive with untreatable terminal illnesses...we give them palliative care, love, and a wonderful life until it is their time to cross over.
SnaxAge: 10 years
Breed: Chow Chow Mix Weight: 58 pounds Rescued: 01/30/2023 - 02/14/2023 learn more
When we welcomed Snax into Every Pet’s Dream, we knew she had a difficult past to overcome. Despite her poor health, she carried herself with a sense of serenity that inspired us all. We were grateful for the two weeks we had to give her all the love and attention she deserved. Her foster mother provided exceptional care and affection during this time, and we all gathered around her, reminding her how cherished and special she was. The greatest gift we could give was the opportunity to love her until the very end and that's exactly what we did. Run free Snax. |
LeonAge: 8 years
Breed: Terrier, Chihuahua Mix Weight: 13 pounds Rescued: 08/19/2022 - 10/25/2022 learn more
We really don't know Leon's past. He ended up at the shelter as a stray dog. His coat was dull and his eyes were weepy. But soon it was revealed that this quiet little guy had been suffering in silence with a broken jaw. He has already been to our dedicated vet where they were able to pull both teeth at each side of the break and wire his jaw for the healing to begin. Bad teeth and gum recession can cause jaws to fracture, but Leon's teeth and gums were fine. It is likely that Leon's broken jaw was due to some type of injury to his mouth. Was he kicked? We sure hope not. Leon is safe now and receiving our love and care. As you can imagine he needed pain meds and is on soft food. Each day he seems to feel better. He loves to soak in the sun and cuddle up in his bed. |

We are extremely grateful for our fosters who make it possible to rescue dogs like Sassy. Little Sassy will never be forgotten and is forever in our hearts. |

RustyAge: 8 years
Breed: Terrier, Chihuahua Mix Medical: Hospice Rescued: 07/10/2022 - 07/13/2022 learn more
Rusty lived and mattered to us and I'd like to share his story. Rusty came into the shelter as a stray on Wednesday (July 6th, 2022) and I met him on Sunday (July 10). He was not doing well and was scheduled to be euthanized. I immediately agreed to take him home instead. But before leaving the shelter we had to address his fleas. He was covered in them. He had visible fleas and flea eggs on his face. During his bath it was apparent how infested he was. Flea poop contains all the blood sucked from an animals body and when wet the poop just looks like blood rinsing off them. Rusty was extremely wobbly on his feet and we started him on pain meds. The trip to our vet revealed that Rusty also had a ruptured disc causing the break in the communication from his brain to his limbs. We were determined that no matter how many days he had with us, that he would be loved and cared for. Rusty's bloodwork wasn't great and he was emaciated. Rusty was weak but he ate food from my hand. He was a good boy and he knew he was safe. He had a family again and that is all he needed. With his warm bath and comfy bed he had quiet sleep filled nights. This morning I wrapped him up in his blanket and we sat on the patio in the sunshine. I thanked him for choosing me and for coming into my life. Every dog is my teacher. There are no words to describe the enormous impact they have on my heart. Rusty was no different. I knew our time was short and I decided to head back to our vet. Rusty died peacefully in my arms on our ride there. Run free Rusty. Momma loves you. |
RobbieAge: 10 years
Breed: Terrier Mix Medical: Senior, Vision impaired, Heart Condition Rescued: 06/08/22 More Photos of Chance learn more
Chance is a sweet old guy who's easy going and finds a bed and naps. He's very food motivated and loves to eat. He enjoys pets but he flinches when suddenly approached so should be approached slowly, making your presence and proximity known, as his vision might be compromised. He can still see and follow you around though, and he does like to sniff and hang out in the yard. He needs to be taken out for potty after meals and after waking up from naps. When taken outside, he's quick to potty. Energy Level? Low to Medium House trained? We're working on it. Describe how they are on leash? Good. Describe how they are with other dogs? Good. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they? No. Commands they know? Go potty. What are their favorite things? Food, naps. What do they need to work on? Potty training How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone? He's good when left alone. Where do they sleep? On a dog bed, on the floor. What is their ideal home? Chance is an easy going guy. He needs someone who can give him the care and the attention he deserves. |

Breed: Chihuahua Medical : Blind, No lower Jaw, No teeth, Arthritis, Leukemia. Rescued: March 2017 -Nov 2021 learn more
A Tribute to our Princess #Pia!! When we rescued Pia, we were told she was hospice and our goal was to get her out of the shelter and into our home where she would be loved until the very end. We were told that she had 1-2 weeks to live. But Pia had other plans. Pia decided to be the Princess of our house. This beautiful girl blessed our lives for 5 years!! Pia was the sweetest girl ever! She always reminded us when it was dinner time and she loved her midnight snacks. Pia adored her fellow Chihuahua brothers, Rocky, Gerry, and Taco, but she absolutely loved her Pitbulls brother, Otis, Archie, and Tyeson. !It's hard to describe how a 3-pound dog can leave a 100-pound impression on your heart, but that's exactly what Pia did. We are all so thankful for our time with her and she is deeply missed. I love you, Pia! |
ArchieAge: 13 years old
Breed: 100% Pitbull Medical : Heart and Kidney disease, Liver Mass Rescued: July 2018 -Sept 2021 More photos of Archie learn more
Heaven has gained another Angel. We saved our beautiful boy Archie exactly when we were supposed to. Not once but twice, when others thought there was no hope for him and his medical needs. We vowed to advocate for him as long as he needed us and we did. In return, he loved us deeply and was a bright light in each day with us. I know it was not chance that Archie came to us but it was our destiny to be together. We rescued Archie 3+ years ago. His previous owner neglected him and his care. It's hard to imagine how anyone could have abandoned him at the shelter. We cherished each and every day with Archie. It was a privilege to provide him care and shower him with love, love, love. Archie was 100% Pitbull and he was the best ambassador. He was kind and loving with everyone he met. He loved his walks with Daddy and he never hesitate to remind him at that time of the day. Archie also couldn't wait for us to retire to the couch in the evening. He had his spot on the couch that everyone else vacated when he showed up. He thought he was a lap dog and routinely climbed in our laps. He loved that I was working from home and he followed me into my home office daily. He will forever be on our minds and forever in our hearts!! Archie, we love you!! |

Minnielearn more
Minnie was a sweetie senior Min Pin who loved to burrow under her blanket in a cozy bed or snuggle up to you on the couch. She’s vision impaired, but is a brave explorer and is learning how to navigate in her new surroundings. She also loves to explore the backyard. She will give you a little bark when she’s ready to come back in the house and needs help finding the door. Minnie is comfortable around all dogs. She doesn’t bother anyone. She would be better suited to a forever home with no stairs to make her life comfy unless you are prepared to carry up and downstairs. But baby gates around the stairs would be a must for her safety. Minnie is somewhat independent. We think Minnie just got use to folks ignoring her and learned to fend for herself. Now she is enjoying our snuggles and sweet talk. We’re confident she’ll become more settled and less shy as she gets to know and love her new family! Minnie sleeps on a big fluffy bed in an xpen. Minnie prefers to do her business outside. She will need your assistance getting outside until she learns her way to the door. Are you ready to give Minnie her best chapter ever? |
CocoaPuffCocoaPuff - 16 years old
Type: Hospice, Senior Medical Medical: Heart Failure Rescued: November 2020 learn more
We rescued CocoaPuff after her owners abandoned her at the shelter. She spent 4 days alone in the shelter and was so sad. She was so happy when we picked her up. We reminded her how brave and absolutely lovable she was. That she was a Dream dog now and would never be abandoned again. We had a great day together. CocoaPuff had a severe heart condition, but she was comfortable, she was loved, she was introduced to the pack. She hung out in a dog sling, wore by her foster mom and went on car rides. She cuddled in her new blanket. She slept with her daddy. She got lots of sweet talk and kisses. We were there…right by her side, just as we promised her that we'd be and we sent her off to Rainbow Bridge. Through the tears, we feel blessed that we were the ones she licked on the nose and that we get to be the one she will wait for on the Bridge. Until we meet again Sweet Cocoa Puff, run free. |
HeatherHeather - 9 years old
Type: Hospice, Senior Medical Medical: Kidney Failure Rescued: November 2020 learn more
Sweet Heather! We received a call about a senior dog in desperate need of rescue. She was left in the shelter drop box after being found wandering on the streets. We picked her up and took her straight to the vet. She was severely dehydrated and received IV fluids, antibiotics, and GI protectant. The vets thought she had a fair shot of surviving if we were to hospitalize her overnight. We agreed and prayed for a miracle. However, our vet informed us that there was no improvement the next day and there was no coming back from the state of her kidney damage. We have no idea how long this little Angel was alone on the streets, but we do know that her last weekend she was cared for and loved again. We brought her home from the vet. We gave her lots of love and snuggles by the fireplace and sang to her. Thank you all for your prayers, support, and donations to help with her medical bills. We promised her we would take care of her until the very end and that is exactly what we did. |
PixiePixie - 13 years old
Type: Hospice, Senior Medical Medical: Cancer Rescued: November 2019 -January 2020 learn more
We were so happy to help Pixie when the shelter reached out to us about this beautiful 13 year old girl. She was abandoned and alone at the shelter. By the looks of her skin and teeth it appeared that Pixie probably had a rough life. She was full of internal masses. Our vet confirmed it was cancer. But we were determined to give her all the vet care and love she needed. Pixies was with us for 6 weeks. Her amazing Foster Mom showered with lots of love. It was so hard to say our goodbyes to her, but we know she will be waiting for us on the Bridge. We would like to thank our friends at Unconditional Love Animal Rescue for sharing our mission and partnering with us on Pixie. |
BillyBilly - 12 years old
Type: Forever Care, Senior Medical Medical: Collapsing Trachea / Heart Condition Rescued: July 2017 - January 2020 learn more
Billy is forever in our Hearts! When we rescued Billy, we were told he was hospice, in heart failure and would only live a few short months. Those few months turned into a beautiful 2.5 years of love and care for one of the sweetest little senior Chihuahuas ever. Some fun facts about Billy: He preferred humans over dogs but was good at policing other dogs if they carried on too much. He snored and farted in his sleep. He would actually hide his farts with his coughs. He would fall asleep sitting upright while watching his foster mom wash dishes in the kitchen. He once faked being allergic to cats, on a trial adoption, just to get back to his foster mom and his pack. It was at that point we realized that we wouldn’t put him through another adoption trial and he became one of Every Pet’s Dream Forever Care Dogs. He was so loved. We are forever changed having Billy’s sweet little paws walk with us in this life. We will miss you Billy! This is Rescue! |
WalterWalter - 12.5 years old
Type: Forever Care, Senior Medical Medical: Cancer Rescued: October 2019 - February 2020 learn more
Walter was in our Forever Care Program. When we rescued sweet Walter he was in desperate need of medical attention. While in our care Walter had an extensive dental procedure with extractions. The poor sweet guy had 50 foxtails removed from his mouth!! He also suffered from dry eyes that his previous owners didn't treat. This left Walter partial blind. Walter was neutered and also had a mass removed and biopsied. It was then that we learned Walter had cancer. The resiliency of this little old man was beyond belief! He had an amazing foster family that looked after him and even gave him the greatest Birthday celebration fundraiser to help more dogs like Walter. It was a day to remember. Even though Walter was deaf and partial blind, he always knew exactly where in the house to find his Foster Mom. He would sleep by her bedside every night and followed her everywhere. Walter was so loved and truly missed. |

Bailey -18 years old!
Type: Senior Medical Medical: Rescued: May 2019 - March 2020 learn more
At 18 years old, Bailey found himself alone and abandoned at the shelter. We will never understand how anyone could have abandoned this sweet boy for even one second. Every Pet's Dream was so honored to have rescued this lovebug. But we were confident we could help this sick and sad dog. We were right, Bailey thrived in our care. For 10 months Bailey was going on plenty of adventures with his amazing foster mom. She made sure Bailey had everything he ever wanted or needed. Especially his favorite chicken dinners! Bailey loved his daily strolls. He met so many friends along the way. Bailey was so loved and we were with him to the very end just like we had promised him the day we rescued him. Run free Bailey. |
RedRed -7 years old
Type: Adult Medical Medical: Cancer Rescued: September 2019 -October 2019 learn more
Red was confiscated from deplorable conditions. He was abandoned in an apartment with several other dogs. They were found crammed into crates in their own feces. We were happy to rescue Red and get him into foster care. When we rescued Red from the shelter he has had a sniffly nose, which we originally thought was Kennel Cough. He was treated and was doing well. However, it has persisted even after multiple vet visits/antibiotics, etc. Red had a CT scan and a Rhinoscopy to help us get to the root cause of the sniffles and mucus. The procedure went well, but overnight his breathing was labored. His amazing Foster took him back to the vet hospital. The doctors said it was likely aspiration pneumonia and Red needed to stay at the ER for oxygen and antibiotics for several days. Our hearts truly broke when, Red took a turn for the worst and we had to say goodbye. Red, loved getting under the blankets. Red, you were so loved, little fella. See you on the rainbow bridge . |

Samson adored his foster mom and had a great time with his foster brothers. He had so many amazing adventures and he touched so many lives. We will see you on the Bridge Sam! |

When we rescued Henry his lymph glands were swollen. Our Vet confirmed it was Lymphoma. But we promised Henry the day we rescued him, that no matter what, we would be there for him. We gave Henry his very own family to love and boy did they love him back. Our time was too short with Henry. Henry lived in the moment and enjoyed every day with his foster family. Henry was such a great teacher. Henry will be in our hearts forever. |
AuroraAurora - 3 years old
Type: Hospice Medical Medical: Cancer Rescued: Dec 2017 - January 2018 learn more
Sweet Aurora was diagnosed with malignant lymphoma. The shelter reached out to several rescues and gave her a final date of Friday. (12/8/2017) They were so worried that no one was coming for her so the vet staff bought her a hamburger and fed it to her dunked in her favorite can of dog food. But we came for Aurora! We provided her with vet care, comfort and surrounded Aurora with lots of love, until she was ready to cross over. She was such a sweet and gentle girl. xoxo |
EeyoreEeyore - 2 years old
Type: Medical Medical: Spinal injury/Paralyzed Rescued: Dec 2017 learn more
Little Eeyore was picked up as a stray. The shelter vets have found mineralization in his spine. All the rescues contacted declined to rescue him. But his life mattered and we wanted to give Eeyore a chance. We rescued him and his spirits lifted. We hospitalized him and we hoped for the best. Unfortunately, his spinal injury was so severe it began to impact his breathing and there was no treatment. We take great comfort knowing Eeyore knew our love in his final days. He will be running to us on the Bridge. We would like to thank our friends at Unconditional Love Animal Rescue for sharing our mission and partnering with us on Eeyore. |
MayaMaya - 10 years old
Type: Senior Medical Medical: Cancer Rescued: Sept 2017 - Nov 2017 learn more
Forever in our hearts. In September 2017 when we met Maya she could barely sit down due to a 7 inch mammary mass. Maya was abandoned, alone and worried about her future. There was no way we were going to leave her in the shelter. Three days later we had her mass removed! The vets confirmed that not only did Maya have mammary duct carcinoma but she also had two other cancers and it had spread to her spleen. We were determined to give Maya all the love and care possible for her final chapter. For next past 2 months Maya was spoiled and loved. She loved her daily walks, greeting all the neighbors, going on car rides and playing with her foster friends. She thought the beach was overrated and loved home cooked meals. (or McDonald’s) She’d cozied up on the sofa or on her comfy bed with her favorite red blanket and was content. Maya, You touched so many lives. We love you and will meet you on the bridge. We would like to thank our friends at Unconditional Love Animal Rescue for sharing our mission and partnering with us on Maya. |

SnickersSnickers -10 years old
Type: Senior Medical Medical: Heart Failure Rescued: January 2017 learn more
Snickers had been surrendered to the shelter after 10 years because his family was "downsizing". Snickers needed rescue due to several masses and severe dental disease. When we arrived at the shelter to pick up Snickers, he was in distress and his breathing was labored. We rushed him to Vet where he immediately received oxygen, and an X-ray. The vets discovered that Snickers had a large mass in his trachea; his larynx was swollen blocking his air passage. Snickers crossed over in our arms surrounded by love and a lot of kisses. We were all saddened by the loss of sweet Snickers, but grateful in the end, that he knew he was loved again. Snickers, we will see those big brown eyes again on the Bridge. We would like to thank our friends at Unconditional Love Animal Rescue for sharing our mission and partnering with us on Snickers. |

Our sweet Winnie, who we rescued from the shelter, became very ill and passed away. Before she passed, she showed the first symptoms of vomiting and lack of appetite. Tests confirmed elevated liver enzymes and pancreatitis. Symptoms then evolved effecting her neurological system. We were absolutely heart broken over this loss. Our sweet, snuggly, perfect angel, Winnie, crossed over in the arms of her rescuer. We are blessed that we rescued her, but sad her time with us was so short. |

Type: Senior Medical Medical: Hospice Rescued: September 2016 learn more
Alfie was so very special. We rescued Alfie initially for our amazing friends at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. But Alfie was not healing properly after having a soft tissue sarcoma removed at the shelter so we decided to hold on to him and take care of his medical needs. We immediately took Alfie to our vet. He had such a bad infection because his incision opened. Our vets cleaned and closed his wound. We went home with meds and showered Alfie with loving care. Alfie passed away in our arms, knowing he was loved. He was such a sweet boy. |
PollyPrincess Polly ~7 years old
Type: Hospice Senior Medical Medical: Jaw Cancer Rescued: May 2016 learn more
We could not have a Rainbow Bridge page without honoring Princess Polly Pocket. Polly was the first hospice dog ever in my care, about the time that Every Pet's Dream was being launched. We worked very closely with our Rescue Partners at Unconditional Love Animal Rescue to save her. Polly was neglected and abandoned by her people when she needed them most and found herself alone in the shelter. She was sad and shut down . So we rescued her and took her home. Polly had jaw cancer that went untreated too long and there was nothing the vets could do. We were blessed to spend 8 days spoiling her and showing her just how beautiful and loved she was. We gave her a family of her own and the unconditional love of a Momma. Polly took it all in and it didn't take long for her to hold her head up again and soak in our affection. This once invisible dog was now the center of our world. Polly inspired our Mission: To rescue the abandoned and neglected so that no animal dies scared and alone in a shelter, and provide them the same unconditional love they give us so freely. We know Polly will be looking for us on the Bridge. She will always be our Princess Polly. |
At Every Pet's Dream our Mission is to rescue the abandoned and neglected so that no animal dies scared and alone in a shelter, and provide them the same unconditional love they give us so freely.
